Howard Park: Sunset

The sun drops quickly

sunny

Sunset at Howard Beach is a big event. People stay to watch even though they've been at the park all day. Many come just for the show in the west. It is a spectacular shared events. Only the birds seem unimpressed. Loons swim along very close to shore as the sun begins to dip. Great blue herons casually walk within feet of visitors. Ruddy Turnstones peck at the sand - no idea what they're looking for. Gulls and terns scamper around looking for left overs. Everyone watches as the sun goes lower and lower, hits the horizon, and finally disappears.

Howard Park: Palm Trees

This is how you really know you're in the tropics.

sunny

The beautiful palm trees at Howard Beach symbolize the beauty of Florida. Caught in the rosy rays of the setting sun they reflect the pastel colors of the sunset on the Gulf.
